In person in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood or via secure video/telemedicine from anywhere in Washington State.
What happens in a visit?
The goal is for you to never feel rushed during our appointments. Our longer visit time means we can talk through all the details and nuances that make your Type 1 diabetes unique to you.
We'll typically review your glucose patterns, make changes to insulin dosing as needed, and focus on whatever questions and concerns about T1D management are most important to you.
We'll also thoughtfully map out do-able plans to solve your particular challenges in ways that actually work for your real life.
INSURANCE AND FEES
We are currently in-network for the following plans:
Premera Blue Cross (including LifeWise)
Regence Blue Shield (including Regence Medicare Advantage, Healthcare Management Administrators, Asuris Health Northwest, and BridgeSpan Health)
First Choice Health Network
Aetna and Kaiser Permanente report being closed to additional endocrinology providers at this time, so I am out-of-network for those plans. If you are a member of one of those plans, you can help advocate for coverage by calling your member services department and asking for Type 1 Health Northwest/Karen Aitken ARNP to be added to the network.
Telehealth/Virtual visits from your home are currently covered only by Premera commercial (non-Medicare) plans, subject to individual verification of benefits. If your plan doesn't cover telehealth visits yet, you still have the option to self-pay for your visit. Contact us if you'd like to know more about that option.
Visits qualify for FSA/HSA coverage and depending on your plan's specifics, may be covered as an out-of-network benefit.
Contact us for more information about other payment options.
